Paleo, Gluten-free, Dairy-free, Refined-Sugar-free

These delicious almond-flour cookies are not only gluten-free, but dairy-free and low in carbs and sugar. This makes them vegan, paleo and all round good for you! You no longer have to feel guilty when planning on having one or two cookies and ending up eating much much more! The almond flour gives these cookies a bit more texture and since they absorb a lot more moisture, you’ll need to make sure you’ve added enough liquid to prevent them from being too dry.

About This Recipe:

This recipe is super easy to follow and the baking time is just short of 10 minutes! Paired really well with an almond milk cappuccino or my new favourite refreshing drink- iced almond milk caffe latte (because it’s a million degrees at the moment). If you have a look at how I make my own almond milk  you’ll see how easy it is to create your own almond flour as a by-product.

But if you’d rather just buy almond flour, it’s readily available online through amazon.

The Ingredients Needed:

Coconut oil, Plain Full Cream Yogurt, Coconut Milk, Brown Sugar, Avocado, Egg, Banana, Olive oil Vanilla and Honey.

The Equipment Needed:

Not much is needed to create these hair masks, but to make life a little easier use a blender of some sort to efficiently mix all the ingredients together.

1. Creme Brulee Hair Mask:

Ingredients:

  • 1X Whole Egg
  • 150mls Coconut Milk
  • 2 TBSP Honey
  • Vanilla Essence

About This Recipe

There’s nothing quite like the smell of creme brûlée. Tones of vanilla combined with cream and egg, and this hair mask creates that same sensational aroma. This mask can be done once a month.

Benefits:

Egg yolk is rich in the vitamins, making hair more resistant to damage, especially useful for moisturising hair that appears dry. Some of the nutrients found in egg that have been linked to hair growth include vitamin A and E, biotin, omega 3 and folate. Egg yolk is rich in fats and proteins and is naturally moisturising, while the white, which contains bacteria-eating enzymes, removes unwanted build up and oil.

Coconut milk is high in fatty acids and vitamin E, it conditions the hair deeply and leaves it feeling soft and silky. Coconut milk is also loaded with proteins and other essential nutrients that boost growth of hair follicles.

Honey is a humectant which means that it attracts moisture. It is known for sealing moisture into the hair and strengthens the hair follicles.
Vanilla Essence, extracted from vanilla beans, is going to add shine and promote a healthy environment for hair growth by eliminating toxins that build up. The smell is also heavenly!

Directions For Use:

Blend all ingredients together and massage into dry hair, covering and massaging in from roots to tips. The mixture is quite runny so do it over the bath with your head upside down. You’ll need to scrape any remaining honey from the sides of the container and smear into the tips of your hair. Cover your hair tightly with glad wrap or in a towel and leave on for 1-3 hours. Wash out under lukewarm water and lightly shampoo and condition for best results. Make sure the water you rinse with isn’t too hot, firstly it’s not very good for your hair to rinse with hot water and secondly you don’t want to land up with scrambled eggs!

Notes:

The egg smell although not noticeable when first applied (thanks to the vanilla essence added in), does tend to get stronger the longer you leave the mask on for, it does however disappear after the mask is washed out. fade after some time. Make very sure you cover your head properly in a towel or plastic bag to prevent it going everywhere and leaving a lingering eggy smell.
